Tattoos are factoring big in a missing person's investigation overseas. Megan Stammers, a 15 year old student from Eastborne, England has apparently fled to France with her math teacher. Jeremy Forrest. A tattoo Forrest posted to his Twitter over the summer is of a manga-style girl with red hair, the same as Stammers. He also had a quote from Nirvana's Drain You inked on him that reads "One baby to another says I'm lucky to have met you" (via Huffpost UK). AS the age of consent in France is 15, French authorities are not considering this a potential sex crime issue, but are searching for Forrest as a person of interest in a missing person's case. If Stammer's parents decide to pursue kidnapping charges, the nature of the investigation could change.
BREAKING NEWS: As we send this to press, a European Arrest Warrant has apparently been issued for Jeremy Forrest, though the exact nature of the charge(s) is not clear at this time.
Musician Justin Vernon has taken an interesting approach to choosing a new tattoo design: he let the internet decide. Risky venture? No doubt. It's lucky the people over at 4Chan didn't get involved on this one (Google their handiwork in the contest to name the newest Mountain Dew flavor if you don't know what we're talking about; and only do so if you're not easily offended). Here is the winning design, a tribute to the show Northern Exposure:
Louis Malloy, the Manchester-based tattoo artist responsible for inking up David Beckham has revealed that he spent two years trying to talk him out of getting tattooed on the neck, though Becks did eventually get a winged cross tattoo on the back of his neck. Malloy says he is normally against creating body art on areas that are highly visible, but even he concluded about Beckham "… let's face it, he's not going to find himself out of a job because of it, is he?"
