With the 2012 Olympic Summer Games kicking off in London this week, Tattoo Lou's is hosting our own competition, ranking the top athletes with piercings.
5. Javier Culson – Hurdler, Puerto Rico
In the London Olympics, Culson is striving to be the first ever gold medal winner from Puerto Rico in an individual sport. He is ranked 1st in the 400 meter hurdles, so he has a great shot to accomplish the feat, while sporting a pierced eyebrow and ear.
4. Keba Phipps – Volleyball, USA
Now retired and working as a coach, Phipps represented the US in Soul in '88 and made a comeback in Athens in 2004, sporting a labret under her lower lip.
3. Kyle Shewfelt – Gymnastics, Canada
The gold medal winner in the floor exercise at the 2004 Athens games, Shewfelt's left eyebrow piercing secures him a spot on our podium as well.
2. Steven Bradbury – Short Track Speed Skating, Australia
Bradbury, the gold medal winner in the 1,000 meters at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games collected his hardware in a classic "tortoise and hare" scenario. Knowing he wasn't the fastest skater, Bradbury hung back in last place until the entire field ahead of him wiped out while fighting for position, leaving him an easy cruise to Olympic immortality. He is also yet another male athlete who wears a left eyebrow piercing! Maybe there's something to this trend…
1. Amanda Beard – Swimming, USA
One of the most celebrated and sexy US Olympians in recent history, Beard added a couple of tattoos and a tongue piercing between her first and second Olympic appearances in 1996 and 2000. The seven time medalist can now add Tattoo Lou's Weekly Countdown Champion to her prestigious list of accomplishments; an award that no doubt gives her entire life new meaning and makes everything she's ever won to this point pale in comparison.
