For the uninitiated, Tattoo Tuesday is a weekly blog feature where a single tattoo done by one of our staff the week prior is spotlighted. Here you’ll get to see a new tat and hear a little something from the artist responsible for creating it.
This Tuesday we take a look at a great piece done by Gus from our Deer Park location.
Last week Gus tattooed a client named Chris whose existing tattoos are largely inspired by religious imagery. Naturally, during his visit with Gus, Chris wanted some new ink for his arm that would compliment some of his other designs.
“He [Chris] has a bunch of religious tattoos that he has actually gotten from other employees from Tattoo Lou’s,” said Gus. “He saw my work on Facebook, decided to try me, so I did a tattoo on him.”
Gus’ appointment with Chris translated to a three-hour session and being that this was the first time Gus had Chris in his chair, he had to be very careful and considerate of some his Chris’ pre-existing work.
“I had to work with what was around it [the tattoo] because he has existing tattoos, so that’s why I had to add a nice background to it so that it flows correctly…it came out pretty nice,” said Gus.
In the end, Chris was very pleased with his tattooed angel tat and told Gus that he’d be back for some repeat business.
“He loved it, he was especially happy because it took up most of his arm, the upper sleeve, I guess,” said Gus. “He was also happy that I blended it with all the other tattoos he has, because he has some random tattoos.”
